kan direct aan het drinkwater worden toegevoegd om een therapeutische oplossing in de berekende concentratie te bereiden, maar kan ook worden gebruikt in een geconcentreerde vooroplossing door toevoeging van 200 ml van het diergeneesmiddel per liter water en deze verder door te verdunnen.<\/p>\n<p>Op basis van de aanbevolen dosis, dagelijkse waterinname en het aantal en het gewicht van de te behandelen dieren kan de juiste dagelijkse hoeveelheid diergeneesmiddel worden berekend aan de hand van de volgende formule:<\/p>\n<p>(\u2026ml product\/kg lichaamsgewicht\/dag X gemiddeld lichaamsgewicht (kg) van de te behandelen dieren) \/ (gemiddelde dagelijkse waterconsumptie (liter) per dier)<br \/>\n=\u00a0 \u2026ml product per liter drinkwater<\/p>\n<p>Om een juiste dosering te waarborgen dient het lichaamsgewicht zo nauwkeurig mogelijk bepaald te worden. De dagelijkse hoeveelheid moet zo aan het drinkwater worden toegevoegd dat alle medicatie geconsumeerd wordt in 24 uur. Gemedicineerd drinkwater en vooroplossingen dienen elke 24 uur vers te worden bereid. Tijdens de behandelperiode dienen dieren geen toegang te hebben tot andere waterbronnen dan het gemedicineerde drinkwater. Er moet echter voor worden gezorgd dat de dieren altijd voldoende water tot hun beschikking hebben. Na het einde van de medicatieperiode moet het toevoersysteem grondig gereinigd worden om inname van subtherapeutische hoeveelheden van de werkzame stof te voorkomen.<\/p>\n<p>De inname van gemedicineerd water hangt af van de klinische toestand van de dieren. Om de juiste dosering te verkrijgen moet de concentratie van trimethoprim\/sulfamethoxazol mogelijk dienovereenkomstig worden aangepast.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speciale waarschuwingen\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ernstig zieke dieren kunnen een verminderde eetlust en waterconsumptie hebben. Indien nodig dient de concentratie van het diergeneesmiddel in het drinkwater te worden aangepast om er zeker van te zijn dat de aanbevolen dosering wordt opgenomen. Wanneer de concentratie van het diergeneesmiddel echter te veel toeneemt, vermindert de drinkwaterinname om smaakredenen. Daarom dient de waterinname regelmatig te worden gecontroleerd, vooral in vleeskuikens. In geval van onvoldoende opname dienen varkens parenteraal te worden behandeld.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speciale voorzorgsmaatregelen voor veilig gebruik bij de doeldiersoorten<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Als gevolg van een waarschijnlijke variatie (in de loop van de tijd of geografisch gezien) in de gevoeligheid van bacteri\u00ebn voor gepotentieerde sulfonamiden, kan het optreden van resistentie van bacteri\u00ebn van land tot land en zelfs van bedrijf tot bedrijf vari\u00ebren en daarom worden bacteriologisch onderzoek en gevoeligheidstesten aanbevolen. Het gebruik van het diergeneesmiddel moet gebaseerd zijn op identificatie en gevoeligheidstesten van de doelpathogeen(en). Als dit niet mogelijk is, dient de behandeling gebaseerd te zijn op epidemiologische informatie en kennis van de gevoeligheid van de doelpathogenen op bedrijfsniveau, of op lokaal\/regionaal niveau. Wanneer het diergeneesmiddel anders wordt gebruikt dan aangegeven in de SPC kan dit het aantal bacteri\u00ebn dat resistent is tegen sulfamethoxazol en trimethoprim verhogen en de effectiviteit van behandeling met combinaties van trimethoprim en andere sulfonamiden verminderen vanwege de mogelijkheid van kruisresistentie. Wanneer het diergeneesmiddel wordt gebruikt, dient rekening gehouden te worden met het offici\u00eble, nationale en regionale beleid ten aanzien van antimicrobi\u00eble middelen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speciale voorzorgsmaatregelen, te nemen door de persoon die het diergeneesmiddel aan de dieren toedient<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sulfonamiden kunnen overgevoeligheid (allergie) veroorzaken na injectie, inademing, inslikken of huidcontact. Overgevoeligheid voor sulfonamiden kan leiden tot kruisreacties met andere antibiotica. Allergische reacties op deze stoffen kan soms ernstig zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Personen met een bekende overgevoeligheid voor sulfonamiden of trimethoprim moeten contact met het diergeneesmiddel vermijden.<\/p>\n<p>Als u symptomen ontwikkelt na blootstelling, zoals huidirritatie, dient u een arts te raadplegen en de bijsluiter of het etiket te tonen.<\/p>\n<p>Dit diergeneesmiddel kan irritatie van de huid en luchtwegen en oogbeschadiging veroorzaken. Bij het bereiden en het toedienen van het gemedicineerde drinkwater moet huid- en oogcontact worden vermeden. Uitsluitend gebruiken overeenkomstig de baten-risicobeoordeling door de behandelende dierenarts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Interacties met andere geneesmiddelen en andere vormen van interactie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Niet combineren met andere diergeneesmiddelen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Symptomen van overdosering (en, in voorkomend geval, spoedbehandeling en tegengiffen)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In kippen is het optreden van een acute overdosering onwaarschijnlijk omdat de vogels onwillig zullen zijn om het hoog geconcentreerde drinkwater te drinken (te bittere smaak bij meer dan 2 liter diergeneesmiddel per 1000 liter drinkwater).
